For Sale and Wanted

To advertise here please e-mail the details to Rod. Please ensure that the e-mail's subject includes the word "Hurley". Normally adverts will be deleted after 6 months.

The Hurley Owners Association advertises the details of vessels in good faith but cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessels. A buyer should instruct his agents, or his surveyors, to investigate such details as the buyer desires validated.

Please note that one of our members who put a Wanted advert on this page had an e-mail reply from foreign parts inviting him to transfer funds before the item was dispatched. This was obviously a fraud. He didn't fall for it, please ensure that you don't either!  We also had a member who was advertising an item for sale on this page. The "buyer" sent a cheque for £3000 more than the sum agreed. The buyer then contacted the seller and explained that this was a mistake and could he please cash the cheque and send her the £3000. Needless to say he didn't fall for it and neither should you. Be warned!

There also seem to be attempts to defraud people who put Wanted adverts on the site, where the writer claims to have the wanted item but doesn't refer to it specifically but talks about 'the subject title' or 'the above subject stated'. They usually claim to be from foreign countries and the English used is pretty bad. We're not sure how the fraud works, possibly asking for payment before delivery. Once again be warned!

1967 Hurley 22 Project Boat - Carelle. long, fin keel. I bought this boat 13 years ago and have enjoyed sailing her locally. A few years back I lifted her out to repaint the deck and fix the rudder stock and I've never found time to finish the work.

The boat comes with all the rigging, mast and boom. The mainsail, jib, spinnaker and pole are all present as well as an outboard well cool box. The pieces of a new rudder and the old rudder are included. A seized inboard engine has been removed (not present) and the old prop shaft hole needs fiberglassing over. I have lots of photos for anyone who's interested and recommend coming to view and get a scale of the work required.

Currently stored ashore in Kingston Boatyard, East Cowes, Isle of Wight. It is on a cradle which can be included and that is on a trailer that is not roadworthy!(I wouldn't even tow it across the yard/this isn't included). It can be lifted across to another trailer by the yard crane. I'm open to low offers and just want to let her go to a good home. Please email Daniel Westwood on

For Sale. Hurley 20 bilge keel. Serial no: OFF No 337464; Reg Tons 2 68/100; early history not known; believed to have been built in 1970s-80s.

History: Current owner has had the boat for 11 years; previously unused for several years. Some renovation 2006-8 including replacement of all standing and running rigging, also painting/varnishing.

Rig, Sails: Bermuda rig; Jib furled on roller fitted to forestay - roller controlled from well - which makes boat very easy to balance, and sail single-handed. Roller-reefing of Mainsail onto Boom. Non-matching sails, in fair condition.

Mast stepped on Tabernacle (pivot) on cabin roof, so it can be raised and lowered using a simple A-Frame and the Mainsheet.

Pushpit and Pulpit, 2-level wire safety/side-rails. Four berth cabin, with foam cushions - removed when boat beached for the Winter.

Also possbly available: 8HP Mariner outboard, short shaft;8ft GRP tender/dinghy

Kept on swinging mooring April-October/Nov; stored out of the water on shingle beach over the Winter.
Annual maintenance: Hull anti-fouling and woodwork varnishing

Recent house-move makes regular sailing impractical for me - too much travelling - so boat needs an enthusiast living nearer to sailing waters.

Price £950. View: Dell Quay, Chichester Harbour. Contact Chris Hepden: 07734 976280 or

Jetstream is our beloved Hurley 22 long-keel adventure machine. She is truly a small capable yacht, we have sailed her to Ardrossan from Devon via Wales and Ireland. Another larger yacht has come up that we have agreed to buy it so it's time to say goodbye to her. We are taking virtually nothing of the day to day equipment off of her as her replacement is also being left ready to use.

Most importantly the sails are in good condition, the recently serviced main has three reefing points all fed through a new z spars single line reefing boom and all the controls terminate at the cockpit which. The gennoa is on a furler and has had a new UV strip this year. Both are used sails, strongly made and will be serviceable for years to come. She also has a cruising spinnaker in very good condition which makes great work of light winds sailing.

Auxillery power comes from a regularly services Tohatsu 2 stroke 8hp Longshaft Sail Drive outboard in the well. It is manual start has a remote 15 litre tank and the locker
also holds a further 25 litres in cans. The engine is brilliant: simple, light and reliable. The engine will charge the ships batteries when running.

The boat has a 80 amp hour leisure battery charged by the engine, a large 100w flexible walk on solar panel, or from the battery charger (included). We have never needed to charge the batteries by charger since chaining the lights to LED and upgrading the water system to foot pump. The solar power has a purpose made solar regulator and the battery levels and power usage are monitored by a NASA BM1 Battery Monitor unit.

Viewing. This is all a bit sudden an opportunity not to miss at a really busy time of year for us. So the plan is that we will travel up to Ardrossan on the 5th and 6th August and mix taking our personal stuff off, a pre-sale clean and last play on her we will happily show her to anyone who would like to see her. I guess she will go to the best offer following the weekend or the first person to offer the asking price.

For further descriptions of the boat and an extensive inventory please go to the Gumtree advert:

I have a Hurley 1974 30/90 berthed in Spain, about 50 miles from Barcelona. I have had this boat for 11 years, cruising between Cartagena and Barcelona. She is on the hard at the moment. I am about to refit certain elements, 3 seacocks, one or two electrical fittings, new depth gauge.

I have ummed and ahhhed about sailing her back to the UK but probably won't. I would consider a swop for a Hurley 22 in good nick with anyone who fancied some Med cruising in a roomy 30 footer. You can live on this boat, and for several holidays over the last 11 years, I and my family have done so. A heavy displacement Bristish Yacht handles the vagueries and occasional big blows of the Med very well in my opinion. The 30/90 has a 13 HP Yanma, auxiliary as defined , extremely reliable and knocks her along at 4.5 to 5 knots.

I haven’t advertised this boat, as I may well keep her, however a swop would appeal. It would have to be a decent 22 with a decent inboard. I used to own one.
